High School

Built around globally-recognized North American standards, Yangon International School develops students into lifelong learners who are academically well-prepared, socially responsible, culturally sensitive, and personally fulfilled. Reading, writing, and mathematical ability are the foundations of our curriculum which encourages students to learn through discovery and investigation. This type of learning is central to mastery of academic standards which focus on critical thinking.

Yangon International School’s high school program offers a dynamic, academically rigorous and holistic curriculum that culminates in the American high school diploma. Students are required to complete 26 credits with requirements in English language arts, math, science, social studies, physical education, art and performing arts, technology, world languages, and college and career studies. High school students are required to participate in a 1:1 laptop program.

As they prepare for university studies and life beyond school, high school students explore what it means to become life-long learners. They take part in a range of extra-curricular activities such as issue clubs, sports teams, student publications, student council, National Honor Society, service learning, and Week Without Walls trips.
