The mission of YIS is to foster the development of the whole child who is a participating global citizen and a lifelong learner. If these are the values you seek for your child’s education, you should apply!
Small class sizes help us maintain the high quality of education at YIS. We do not exceed capacity. We will work with your family to try to admit all children as vacancies become available, provided that they have all screened at acceptable levels for their grade levels.
YIS reserves the right to request a copy of student records before a child is allowed to enroll at the school. All applicants will be asked for at least two years of academic records as well as any standardized test results or psychoeducational evaluations. Records are essential at the high school level due to the evaluation of credits to meet the YIS graduation requirements. Records must be in English or with official translations.
To fulfill the YIS graduation requirements, students from non-American accredited schools will need to attend YIS for a minimum of two consecutive years. If a student is coming from another accredited American school, he/she may enter as a senior.
In grades 9-12 students are required to take 26 credits, which must include the following:
English: 4 credits
Art/Performing Arts: 1 credit
Math: 3 credits
Foreign Language: 2 credits
