Six of our students travelled to South Korea last week with Model United Nations advisor and social studies teacher Mr. Todd Brink.
They participated in the Seoul Model United Nations conference with more than 500 students from around the world. The theme of the conference was “Embracing Diversity.”
Our students were fantastic representatives for YIS and Myanmar.
Three YIS students were the main submitters of resolutions. Of the 500 delegates, only 25 students submitted resolutions.
Mr. Brink reports that the students’ work focused on combating ISIS’ sphere of influence in Syria, alleviating economic inequality arising from race and gender, reducing discrimination arising from gender identity or sexual orientation, and developing programmes to foster greater employment opportunity for persons with disabilities.
