The prestigious Margaret Sanders Scholarship is awarded annually by The United Way in partnership with EARCOS. Margaret Sanders carved out a remarkable career in a male-dominated field, working at Walsworth Publishing for over four decades. Since beginning her work in 1961, she brought excellence to international schools serving their publishing needs.
This year, one of Yangon International School’s students was selected for the coveted award. Chloe Aung is the first YIS student and the first Myanma recipient of the scholarship.

I would like to give my heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Johanson, Ms. Krakaeur and Mr. Costello for selecting me as a nominee for Yangon International school, writing my recommendation letters, editing my essay, and giving their support throughout the entire process since day one. And, of course, I’d like to thank my mother, my backbone and my mentor. Lastly, thank you to everyone at YIS for granting me opportunities and allowing me to accomplish my goals.” – Chloe Aung
