Greetings from the Principal's office!

Ms. Marisa Seco-Medina
My name is Marisa Seco-Medina, and I am delighted to have arrived in Mandalay! I have been an educator for 35 yrs. and Instructional Leader for over ten years, it will be my honor to lead YIS and serve its community while supporting the development of our students’ whole self.
I am thrilled to join YIS in Mandalay supported by an outstanding team for the 2022-23 school year. We are so excited to envision new opportunities in sports, the arts, Passion Projects, and more for our students. Indeed, our focus will be on building a caring community where teaching and learning happens every day for every student.
We are looking forward to students returning to our classrooms, our playgrounds, and halls. We have dreamed of seeing students in science laboratories, in-person arts and PE classes, and a return to sports and service-learning outings. YIS is warmly welcoming several new educators, who are joining us from Spain, New Zealand, South Africa, the Netherlands, US, Canada, India, and China!
Supporting your children’s transitions back to in-person learning will require all of us to focus on their academic realities combined with our students’ social and emotional well-being. To support our students in this critical area, we look forward to implementing a home room/Morning Meeting program at the start of the day. This framework will ensure that students have an opportunity to settle into their group and share news, feelings, emotions, and questions in a safe and caring manner.
We are lucky to have Ms. Yo Yo serving our school community and being a liaison with you, the parents. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Ms. YoYo if you need to see me or would like to arrange a visit to the school. You and your children will be quite well taken care of!
Thank you for your time and parental partnership!
Warm Regards,
Ms. Marisa
